Respect the Water
The Bass Philosophy: Be kind to Nature

There’s something sacred about the Everglades. This is why we must respect the water. When the morning fog lifts off the sawgrass and the water starts to breathe again, you feel it — the wild heart of Florida. It’s more than a place to fish; it’s a living system, a pulse that connects everything from the tiniest baitfish to the big bass we chase.
But here’s the truth: if we don’t take care of it, we lose it, that is why we must protect it. Every time we launch a boat, tie a lure, or cut a line, we make choices that matter.
Fishing line might seem harmless, but it’s one of the worst things to leave behind. It doesn’t break down for hundreds of years, and while it sits there, it tangles birds, chokes gators, and snags turtles. You see it hanging from mangroves, wrapped around stumps, or floating just below the surface — reminders of carelessness that has no place out here.
If you cut a line, collect it. If you find someone else’s, grab that too. Most tackle shops, parks, and boat ramps now have recycling tubes or bins for monofilament and braided line. Use them. And if they’re not around, take it with you. It’s a simple habit that makes a massive difference.
But it’s not just about fishing line. It’s about everything we bring in.
Plastic bottles, bait packaging, snack wrappers — they all find their way into the water if we’re not mindful. The Everglades isn’t a dump site, it’s a gift. Every can you crush, every wrapper you pocket, every piece of trash you take back — that’s respect.
And if you really love this place, go a step further.
Pick up what others left behind. You don’t have to make a big deal out of it — just do it quietly. The fish don’t care who gets the credit. The water just needs someone who gives a damn.
When you walk out of the Glades at sunset, the air still warm and the mosquitoes humming, you should feel good knowing you didn’t just come to take — you came to give something back. Because in the end, that’s what The Bass Philosophy is really about.
It’s not just about catching fish. It’s about honor.
Honor for the water, the land, and every living thing that makes this place worth fishing in the first place.
Here in Big Bass Miami, we live by that code.
Catch your bass. Respect the fight. Leave no trace.
That’s how we keep the Glades alive for the next sunrise, the next cast, and the next generation that falls in love with it — just like we did.
That’s not just fishing —
That’s The Bass Philosophy
Respect the Fish, Respect the Water, Respect the Catch
